GCS is a supportive learning environment housed within a state-of-the-art learning "hub". Designed with three levels of intensity of intervention, GCS has become an effective Response-to-Intervention (RtI) service delivery model for elementary and secondary schools alike. Anyone can refer a student.

INTERVENTION: GRAND CENTRAL STATION
A structured learning program which acts as a comprehensive, case management system within a nurturing environment. The program provides the scaffolding for floundering students directly teaching them and walking with them to successful, independent learning.
SCAFFOLDING:
¨ Key organizational structures: Lesson plan board, missing works board, Friday grade checks
¨ An enriched learning environment (with lots of manipulatives and state-of-the-art technology
¨ Supportive teachers who excel in re-teaching strategies and study skills
¨ A process which provides students with a better understanding of themselves as learners
DE-SCAFFOLDING:
¨ Students take ownership of the specific tools, study skills and organizational techniques which work best for them
¨ Students internalize the newfound strategies
¨ Visible, external scaffolding slowly fades away
¨ Students "fly" on their own
